Where we were

Originally, Teal Ridge was created as a compromise between the government and a housing developer. In order to build the houses, the developer also needed to include a manmade wild area to act as a watershed and hold run off from heavy rain. When the wetlands were first built there were many entities involved in it's upkeep and it was a beautiful and healthy functioning habitat.

With the loss of the previous owner, the wetlands became neglected and overgrown.

Where we are

In 2019, the wetlands was donated to Nature’s Vein Wildlife Rescue, a fledgling non-profit organization based in Perkins, Oklahoma. Though very little has changed on the surface, Nature’s Vein is working hard to bring together the resources necessary to see this area thrive once more!

Scout groups, OSU clubs, and other community service outreach groups have played a major role in helping to restore some of the structures around the wetlands.

If you have a volunteer project in mind that could help the wetlands, please reach out to us!

Where we’re going

Our goal is to restore the wetlands to the healthy habitat it once was and to refine the area for both human and animal visitors. We want to enhance the habitat for wildlife as well as improve public accessibility for our community!

Your support can help it happen.
